Christina Schmidt graduated from Duke University in the spring of 2017 with majors in Global Health and Evolutionary Anthropology and a minor in Chemistry.

As a student at Lincoln, many teachers and mentors played important roles in shaping her growth as an individual and a scholar. One particularly important mentor to her was Alison Brody, her constitution team coach. Constitution team was incredibly formative in helping her foster a genuine love of learning. As a mentor, Alison pushed her to work harder than she ever had before and showed her that she was capable of achieving goals that initially seem impossible.

While at Lincoln, her most meaningful extracurricular activity was working with Amigos de Las Americas. As a volunteer with Amigos, she spent a summer in Nicaragua teaching children about human rights and working on various community development projects. Her work with Amigos as a volunteer and subsequently as a volunteer trainer ignited her passion for Global Health and continues to influence her perspectives on international development work.

During her senior year and first year out of college she worked at Nivi, a small start-up seeking to increase access to reproductive health services in Kenya through the use of mobile phones. When she first joined Nivi, it was just launching its first pilot product. Today, Nivi has over 10,000 users and is continuing to grow under the leadership and direction of its expanding team. Being able to build new products from the ground up and see these products impact the lives of thousands of women has been her most meaningful accomplishment to date.

In the summer of 2018, she started her first year of medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. Way to go Christina!
