Summer 2018 Internship: SMART Fellow at UC Berkeley

Celia Diffely is a rising Junior at the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in English.

Celia identified Bill Lynch as a teacher at Lincoln who had a significant positive impact on her. She appreciates how he treated her as an authority on the works studied in class and in her own writing until she believed it as well.

Celia’s favorite extracurricular activity at Lincoln was Constitution Team because of the friendships, the lessons in confidence and work ethic, and the opportunity to travel.

In 2015, Celia ran the Silver Falls Half Marathon with her dad after a year of medical upheaval. She considers this to be her greatest accomplishment in life so far.

Celia is spending her 2018 summer as a SMART Fellow at UC Berkeley. This fellowship requires her to do research on student understanding of the process of defining in math education. We are excited to see what other great things you accomplish, Celia!
