Maya Fine is a rising Sophomore at the University of Southern California. She is currently majoring in Business Administration and minoring in both Spanish and Communication Design.
At Lincoln, Maya was greatly impacted by English teacher Mark Halpern, claiming he is the best teacher she has ever had. While in his class, Maya noticed that he was invested in every single student and embraced an authentic and unique teaching method. The way he taught English literature led Maya to become uncharacteristically interested in books in a way she never thought she would be. Mr. Halpern became Maya’s closest mentor and advisor. In addition to helping her write her extended essay, Mr. Halpern was someone she could go to for advice about college, life and what she wanted to pursue professionally.
Maya’s favorite extracurricular activity in high school was track and field. She loves to compete and through track and field she was able to do so while making lifelong friends. She found it to be the perfect combination of a supportive community and an environment that encouraged athletic accomplishments.
So far in her life, Maya believes her greatest accomplishment is starting her own company, Glimpse Careers. She had so much trouble figuring out what she wanted to pursue as a career, she figured that others could use a service that gives them a glimpse of what the careers they are interested in are really like. The company is a job shadow connections agency. The experience has been fun, exhausting, inspiring and extremely educational for her.
Maya is spending her 2018 summer in Taiwan Taipei working as a business development and marketing intern at RedString Match Inc. Eventually she would like to have a career in management consulting or global marketing. We can’t wait to see what other great things you accomplish Maya!
