Luna Abadía

Undergraduate: Duke University
Planned Major: Environmental Science and Policy
Recommended Book: “Braiding Sweetgrass” - Robin Wall Kimmerer

Luna Abadia begins her freshman year at Duke in the Fall of 2022, where she plans to major in Environmental Science and Policy, and minor in Global Cultural Studies and Anthropology.

While attending Lincoln, IB Coordinator Mr. Bliss was a fundamental source of support for Luna. She enjoyed going on intellectual journeys together through conversations after class. Luna was also deeply touched by his thoughtfulness when he reached out to her when she was struggling through stressful times.

Luna’s experiences on Lincoln’s cross country and track teams were life-changing. She loved testing the limits of what she is physically capable of while running at varsity state and national competitions. She has found that running taught her so much about what it means to be the best version of yourself, and has equipped her to face difficult life challenges.

Luna is most proud of her climate justice activism work. She is the founder and leader of the Effective Climate Action Project, a global youth climate initiative engaging in systemic activism worldwide. In addition, Luna dedicated a significant amount of time outside of school to teaching herself Japanese so that she could study abroad in rural Japan during her sophomore year.

We are excited to follow the amazing thing you do, Luna!
